Boys Varsity Basketball · Varsity Boys’ Basketball Wins MHSAA District Championship

The Pennfield High School varsity boys’ basketball team traveled to Eaton Rapids High School on Saturday afternoon for the MHSAA district championship game against I-8 rival Marshall High School.  The Panthers were looking to add a district title to their I-8 regular season championship.  Pennfield did that by defeating the Redhawks 58-38 to improve their overall record to 17-2 on the season.

The Panthers came out of the gate quickly and jumped to a 17-5 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.  They held a 33-21 lead at halftime and extended their lead to 42-26 after three quarters of play on their way to a convincing victory.

Junior, guards Luke Davis and Aiden Burns led the team in scoring with 16 points and 14 points respectively.  Senior, Ryne Petersen added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists ,  Fellow seniors, Shawn Gardner and Gavin Liggett added 8 and 7 rebounds each.

The varsity boys’ basketball team will advance to the MHSAA regional tournament at Williamston High School on Tuesday, March 30th.  They will face I-8 rival Western High School in the first semifinal game beginning at 5:30pm.
