Boys Varsity Basketball · Varsity Boys’ Basketball Thumps Rival Harper Creek 69-41

The Pennfield High School varsity boys’ basketball team hosted their archrival the Harper Creek Beavers on Saturday afternoon in an early season game of unbeaten Interstate Eight Athletic  Conference teams.  The Panthers overwhelmed the Beavers 69-41 to move to 6-0 on the season and remain atop the league standings at 5-0.

Pennfield led the entire game, jumping out to a 12-7 lead after the first quarter.  They extended their lead to 30-18 at the intermission.  They moved their lead to 48-26 after three quarters of play and cruised in the fourth quarter.

The Panthers had four players reach double figures in scoring.  They were led by senior, Connor McCleary who had 15 points and added 2 blocked shots.  Senior, point guard, Ryne Petersen played a solid all around game scoring 11 points, adding a team high 10 assists, to go along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals on the day.  Junior, wings Luke Davis and Aiden Burns added 12 points and 11 points respectively.

The varsity boys’ basketball team will travel to Coldwater High School on Tuesday, February 23rd for another important I-8 showdown with the Cardinals.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
