The Pennfield High School boys’ varsity basketball team traveled to Marshall High School on Thursday evening for a key early season I-8 battle. The Panthers defeated the Redhawks 64-50 for their 5th consecutive victory to start the season. Pennfield improves to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the I-8.
The Panthers once again jumped out to an early 21-12 lead after the first quarter, only to see Marshall close the halftime deficit to 30-26. Pennfield moved the lead back out to 49-38 after three quarters and went on to the 14 point victory.
Senior, Ryne Petersen led the way for Pennfield with 19 points, 9 assists and 4 steals in another solid all around effort. Juniors, Luke Davis added 14 points and 6 steals and Aiden Burns contributed 13 points and 6 rebounds.
The varsity boys’ basketball team will be back in action on Saturday, February 20th when they host cross town rival Harper Creek High School in another I-8 contest. Game time is scheduled for 1:00pm.
