Panthers News · New MHSAA Guidance Will Change Ticket Procedures Beginning on October 9th

Based on the new MHSAA guidance announced earlier this week regarding athletic event crowds and gathering sizes allowed, Pennfield High School will begin to increase our spectator attendance allowance on Friday, October 9th with the varsity football game against Lumen Christi High School.  Please note the varsity football game will begin at 4:30pm on Friday in conjunction with the Calhoun County Health Department recommendation for EEE.

These new spectator allowances are based on fixed seating capacity at each schools local venue.  Each school may be different depending on their seating capacities.  For outdoor events, schools may now admit 30% of their fixed seating capacity at each venue.  For indoor events, schools may now admit 20% of their fixed seating capacity.

For outdoor events at our football stadium, we can now admit a total of 570 spectators.  Pennfield has a fixed seating capacity of 1900 at the football stadium.  For volleyball games beginning the week of October 12th, we can admit up to 190 spectators.  We use half of our fixed seating capacity of 1875 seats for volleyball events.  The Interstate 8 Athletic Conference schools have mutually agreed to allow 2/3 of these spectator tickets to go to the home team, while the visitors will receive 1/3 of the available tickets.

On Friday night for our Homecoming football game, Pennfield will have 380 tickets to sell.  These tickets will be allocated among our participant groups involved in this game including varsity football players & coaches, varsity cheerleaders & coaches, marching band members & directors, dance team members & coaches, homecoming court members, and Board of Education members.  Beginning on October 9th all I-8 schools, including Pennfield, will be charging admission for all high school athletic events.  All tickets for Pennfield home contests must be purchased in advance of the event.  There will be no tickets available for sale at the event site.

Tickets can be purchased on the day of the event (8:00am – 4:00pm) or the evening before the event (4:00-6:00pm) in the athletic office.  Tickets will not be available on Friday evenings or on weekends.  At this time tickets will not be available to the general public.  These policies are in effect for regular season events only.  MHSAA tournament events (district, regional, quarterfinal, etc.) will have different procedures outlined by the MHSAA office.

Based on the MDHHS Emergency Order of October 5th, there will be no change to the face covering requirements as outlined by the MHSAA guidance to schools.  Face coverings continue to be required for all athletes in football, soccer and volleyball.  The face covering requirement for everyone else present including coaches, trainers, managers, media members, game administration and spectators also remain unchanged.  Remember that social distancing must be followed at all times for everyone except athletes and officials involved in active participation during the contest.

Thank you for your cooperation in assisting us in making all of our athletic events as safe as possible by wearing a face covering at all times and keeping proper social distancing of at least six feet from those in other households.
