Panthers News · Senior Spotlights – Varsity Boys’ Track & Field


The spring track & field season never got out of the starting blocks due to the coronavirus pandemic, however we still want to recognize our seniors in the class of 2020.  Below are individual spotlights for our senior boys’ track & field team members at Pennfield High School.

Braden Baxter is the son of Scott and Melissa Baxter.  He was a member of the varsity track & field team for four years. His favorite memory came in his first meet as a freshman in the high jump competition.  “It was my first experience in athletics where it was solely good vibes and everyone was having fun and trying to meet their individual goals”.  His post high school plans are to join the Navy and pursue a career in cybersecurity.

Chase Hubbert is the son of Andrew Hubbert and Porsha Jones.  He was a three year member of the varsity track & field team.  His favorite memory “was placing second in the shot put during a big meet”.  His post high school plans are to attend Kalamazoo Valley Community College and study automotive mechanics.

Trenton Kinzler is the son of Charles and Nichole Kinzler.  He was a three year participant for the varsity track & field team.  His favorite memory “was all the fun we had on the bus rides after meets”.  His post high school plans include attending Lansing Community College to study aviation maintenance.

Daniel Mayhew is the son of Dan Mayhew and Jennifer France.  He was a member of the varsity track team for two years.  His favorite memory was “setting a personal record for the shot put at the MHSAA Regional”.  His post high school plans include attending Beloit College to study engineering and business and to continue to play football.

Zac McGruder is the son of David and Sara McGruder and William and Amanda Smith.  He was a four year varsity track & field participant.  His favorite memory “was placing first in the 110 hurdles against Coldwater”.  His post high school plans include attending the fire academy and becoming a firefighter.

Gavin Mir is the son of David and Nikki Mir.  He was a two year member of the varsity track & field team.  His favorite memory “were all the relay victories we had and the friendships and bonds that were created”.  His post high school plans include attending Western Michigan University to study paper engineering.

Logan Pillsbury is the son of James Marler and Brandi Pillsbury.  He was a first year team member of the varsity track & field program.  His favorite memory “was my first practice”.  His post high school plans include joining the Navy and  pursue a career in nuclear engineering.

Alonte Washington is the son of Andre and JoAnna Washington.  He was a first year team member of the varsity track & field program.  His favorite memory “was learning how to throw and the team bonding during warm ups”.  His post high school plans include attending Kellogg Community College and studying law enforcement.

Sam Wood is the son of Tim and Tracy Wood.  He was a varsity track & field team participant for four years.  His favorite memory “was meeting new people”.  His post high school plans include attending Kellogg Community College and studying physical education.

Congratulations to the senior members of our boys’ varsity track & field program on their graduation from Pennfield High School and thank you for your contributions to the Panther athletic program.  We wish you great success going forward!
