Panthers News · Varsity Softball Opens The Season With A Sweep

The Pennfield High School varsity softball team opened the 2019 season by sweeping a doubleheader against Maple Valley High School.  The Lady Panthers won game one 9-6 and took the nightcap 10-9.

In the first game, junior, Kelsey Kemerling went 2 for 2 and scored three runs.  Senior, Haley Hooper went 2 for 3, drove in two runs and scored three times.  Sophomore, Sadie Drawhorn was the winning pitcher striking out 10.

In the second game, freshman Jayla Eckman pitched and earned the win, striking out 8.  Offensively, Kelsey Kemerling went 2 for 3 with a double, triple and an RBI.   Sadie Drawhorn was 1 for 2 with a triple and a run batted in.  Freshman, Kaylynn Budreau went 1 for 2 with her first career home run and two RBI.

The varsity softball team will return to the diamond on April 11th when they host Lumen Christi High School to begin I-8 play.  The doubleheader is scheduled for a 4:00pm start.
