The Pennfield High School varsity boys’ basketball team hosted non-conference foe Homer High School last night and defeated the Trojans by the score of 76-71.
The Panthers came out of the locker room red hot in the first half building a 22-9 lead after the first quarter and increasing that lead to 44-28 at halftime. The visitors would not go away and battled back to close the gap to 57-50 after three quarters but Pennfield was able to hold on to secure the victory. Pennfield improves to 2-2 on the season and remained 1-1 in the Interstate 8.
The Panthers had five players in double figures. Leading the way was freshman, Luke Davis who came off the bench to score a game high 20 points. Sophomore, Ryne Petersen added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in a solid all around performance. Senior, Keagan Burns had 11 points and six assists, while senior, Ryan Vought and sophomore, Gavin Liggett each had 10 points.
The varsity boys basketball team will be back in action on Friday, December 21st when they travel to I-8 rival Marshall High School. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
