The Pennfield High School varsity volleyball team hosted I-8 rival Hastings High School on Wednesday night for their annual “Dig Pink” game and their final I-8 dual match of the season. The Lady Panthers defeated the Saxons in three games by the scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-13. With this victory, Pennfield finishes 4-3 in the Interstate 8 and improves to 12-4 overall in dual matches on the season.
Leading the way for Pennfield were seniors, Grace Hall and Shelby Smyers. Hall led the team with 18 kills and added 6 digs defensively, while Smyers led the Lady Panthers with 16 digs and 8 kills. Junior, Kelsey Kemerling and sophomore, Abby Schwartz had 19 and 16 assists respectively.
The varsity volleyball team will be back in action on Saturday, October 20th when they travel to Coldwater High School for the Interstate 8 tournament. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 9:00am.
