Varsity Softball Has Winning Streak Snapped

The Pennfield High School varsity softball team hosted Eaton Rapids High School in their final regular season games of the season on Thursday and lost by the scores of 12-0 and 13-3.  The losses snapped the Lady Panthers winning streak of six games.  Pennfield will head into the MHSAA district tournament this weekend with an overall record of 20-17.

In game one, Katie Lenz started and suffered the loss while striking out two.  Zoey McCleary went 1 for 2 with a double, Haley Hooper was 1 for 2, and Kaylee Clothier and Alicia Lake each were 1 for 3.

In the second game, Alicia Lake started and took the loss while striking out six.  She led the offense as well, going 3 for 4 with an RBI.  Katie Lenz was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Paige McIntyre was 1 for 1 with a double and a run scored.

The Lady Panthers open MHSAA district tournament action on Saturday, June 3rd when they travel to Coldwater High School to battle I-8 foe Marshall High School at noon.  The winner of that game will advance to the district championship game scheduled for 2:00pm.
