Varsity Boy’s Bowling Team Wins MHSAA State Championship

The Pennfield High School varsity boy’s bowling team captured the MHSAA Division 3 State Championship last Friday, March 3rd at M-66 Bowl by defeating Corunna High School in the final match 1312-1129.

The Panthers earned the number one seed in the match play format through the qualifying rounds earlier in the day.   In the match play the top eight teams advance and they defeated Durand High School in the quarterfinals 1222-1093, Cheboygan High School in the semifinals 1235-1129 before defeating Corunna in the finals.

The varsity boy’s bowling team achieved their season long goal of winning the MHSAA State Championship after finishing runner-up in 2016.  This year’s tournament roster included seniors Max Jackson and Bailey Neal, juniors Trace Davis, Nick Hohnberger, Joe Larsen and Sean Young and sophomore James Ruoff.
