Varsity Wrestling Falls in Regional Finals

The Pennfield High School varsity wrestling team continued on it’s MHSAA tournament run Wednesday evening when they traveled to Dundee High School for the MHSAA regional tournament.  The Panthers defeated Michigan Center High School in the semi-final match by the score of 48-33, before falling to host Dundee High School in the championship match.

Earning individual victories for Pennfield over Michigan Center were Nolen Bornaman (pin), Kaleb Dillard (pin), Jaycob Herpin (pin), Jayce Kellay (pin), Dillon Striplin (pin), Ashton Leenhouts (pin), and Shane Edwards (pin).

With the defeat in the regional finals the team wrestling season comes to an end, however, there are several Panthers who have qualified for the individual regional tournament on Saturday, February 18th at Williamston High School.  Those who will be battling for a spot in the MHSAA finals are Jaycob Herpin, Dillon Striplin, Ashton Leenhouts and Shane Edwards.  Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9:30am.
